Bassano in Teverina (VT), Italy – The first edition of B'Art – Bassano Artist Residencies has come to a successful close. The cultural project was promoted by the La Torre business network together with the Municipality of Bassano in Teverina, and funded by the Lazio Region under the public call supporting programmes run by business networks.
The open call
Bassano in Teverina, a medieval village in the province of Viterbo, put itself forward as an open-air creative laboratory: a chance for Italian and international artists to settle into the quiet of the area and find inspiration among its paved alleys and old walls. The call opened in October 2024 and drew applications from artists across Italy.
A week of residency
From 17 to 24 March 2025, nine young artists from different Italian regions spent an intense creative week in the village, working in studios and exhibition spaces across the old town and in contact with the local community. Alongside the studio work there were meetings, workshops and public presentations, so that visitors could see the creative process and the works as they took shape.
The works stay
The works made during the residency will become a permanent part of the village Antiquarium, which was under construction at the time, setting up a conversation between the archaeological finds of the area and contemporary art.
"B'Art is a bridge between the long history of our village and new forms of contemporary art," the organisers say. "A meeting that gives value to the cultural heritage already here and carries it forward."
